………is a consortium of Nine (9) South Asian Community owned community centres in Kirklees.

………came about at the beginning of 2005, the nine South Asian owned community organisations came together to develop a proactive consortium to advocate for and achieve social inclusion for the communities the members represent

………came about as a grass roots proactive response to challenge and overcome common issues and problems experienced by South Asian communities who, for a variety of reasons, are unfairly excluded from some of the opportunities enjoyed by the majority of the population.

………is motivated by the fact that the needs of the communities are not new, yet there is lack of progress made by statutory, public and private sector agencies in meeting the needs of South Asian communities in Kirklees.

………members are actively committed to seeking out ways in which we complement each other to enhance the quality of life for the communities we represent.

………aims to provide solutions from a community perspective by working in partnership and by engaging with the Public Sector; focusing initially on community safety, education, employment & skills, health, social exclusion and youth disaffection.

………endeavours to be an effective voice for local concerns.

………embodies the knowledge that the communities are not passive but are the most able to identify the issues and provide their own solutions to needs and is determined to be a key in the decision and policy making areas that impact on South Asian communities in Kirklees.


………will be a recognised, consulted and representative authority on issues relating to our communities at local and national level.
